ALERT!
To our Membership
We would like to make it very clear that the California
Federation of Dog Clubs was, is and always will be, OPPOSED to
AB 1634 in any form. We do not believe that any revisions or
amendments will make it acceptable. We stand by our position,
which from the start has been that a bad bill is a bad bill and
needs to be killed.
AB1634 serves no public benefit, covers laws which are already
on the books, and harasses responsible dog owners for no
legitimate reason. So why is such a frivolous and pointless
law still being considered? Because no matter how innocuous
the bill appears to be, and even if the circumstances are
unlikely, it STILL ALLOWS FOR MANDATORY SPAY/NEUTER. This one
element may be all that remains of the original version, but it
has always been the only point that matters, because it sets a
precedent for animal rights extremists to reference when they
scream for further restrictions, which has been their strategy
from the start. Each step, no matter how small, leads them
towards their ultimate agenda, chipping away at our rights to
our dogs, and leading us to a day when owning a pet becomes
exorbitantly expensive and ultimately impossible. AB1634 is
just another foot in the door towards that end.
We are extremely disappointed that the AKC and other
organizations appear to have acquiesced and agreed to this
“watered down” version of the bill without recognizing the
consequences of doing so. A united front has always been our
best and only asset and we hope that they will reconsider
before it is too late, but whatever their decision, please
be assured that CFoDC continues to fight for your rights and
for your dogs. This war began long before AB 1634, and we
will not quit until PETA, HSUS and all animal rights
extremists have been exposed and deposed. We will not
settle for anything less.

Susan;
This email really gave all of us hope again!! Thank you so much for all that
you, Judy and Janice did to make this come about. I know this has been a
hard fight that has gone on for years not just for this hearing, and it will
continue. The strategy and personal contact with the Board members was
outstanding. We really appreciate Cal Fed and especially your and Judy's
knowledge and help on the cat issues! I'm sorry we simply were not able to
find or mobilize cat fanciers in Kern County for the hearing - but this
victory really means a lot to CFA. This is a great example of how it is
possible to overcome HSUS, IDA, Ed Boks and all the other forces working
against us. It took a lot to educate these lawmakers and to get this
wonderful result!! Congratulations.
